A survey of 35,000 Americans sought opinions on personal coolness, posing the question, “Do you consider yourself cool?” Interestingly, 53% of respondents affirmed their cool status, while 29% dismissed the notion, and 17% found themselves uncertain about their coolness quotient. Gender disparities were observed, with men exhibiting a slightly higher inclination to embrace coolness.
Further analysis delved into age demographics, revealing that three-quarters of Americans under 30 asserted their coolness, along with two-thirds of individuals aged 30 to 45. This trend gradually declined with 43% between 45 and 65 still embracing coolness, and even 28% of seniors maintaining a self-perceived cool persona.
Geographical distinctions were noted, with most regions displaying consistent coolness self-perceptions, except for the Midwest. Only 44% of Midwesterners claimed cool status, contrasting with 36% who outright denied it and 20% who remained uncertain. The study also humorously noted a potential coolness decrement for the author due to the use of the term “on fleek,” according to contemporary youth slang.
