Plane Crash on I-26

Remarkably, following the crash of a plane onto Interstate 26 on Thursday, both the pilot and the passenger managed to flee the wreckage moments before the aircraft became engulfed in flames. Pilot Parker Klehr, aged 25, reported his ongoing recovery when reached by phone late on Friday.

Details regarding Klehr’s release from the hospital remain unclear. The plane went down shortly after 8 p.m. on Thursday, prompting firefighters to respond to a scene ablaze with vibrant orange flames engulfing the roadway. Despite sustaining non-life-threatening injuries, both the pilot and passenger were reported by authorities on Thursday night.

As the plane descended, it clipped power lines, causing electricity disruptions in nearby areas. The majority of the debris was confined to one side of the interstate. Once the flames were extinguished, efforts shifted toward restoring power. Several vehicles found themselves stranded along I-26 for hours as crews labored to redirect and clear the crash site.

Investigations by the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) and NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board) are presently underway to determine the cause behind this crash.
