The Swain County Sheriff’s Office said late on Saturday, December 16th, that charges have been filed against two individuals in relation to a double shooting that resulted in a homicide on Thursday morning, December 14th. In an 11:10 p.m. Facebook announcement on Saturday, the sheriff’s office stated that Kyle Everett Huskey, 29, faces multiple charges, including:
– Murder
– Attempted First Degree Murder
– Armed Robbery
– Possession of Firearm by Felon
– Conspiracy to Traffic Methamphetamine by Possession and Transportation
– Trafficking Fentanyl
– Trafficking Methamphetamine
Additionally, Chasity Marie Taylor, 24, has been charged by the sheriff’s office with Trafficking Fentanyl and Trafficking Methamphetamine. Taylor is presently in custody with a bond set at $800,000, as confirmed by officials. On December 14th, law enforcement reported that a man and woman were discovered shot in a vehicle, one of them fatally, at the 1300 block of Greasy Branch Road. Both victims were not residents of North Carolina. According to details gathered during the investigation, the deceased man had reportedly paid the woman, who was an Uber driver, $1,000 to transport him from Virginia. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have stated that there are no known threats to the community.
