Two people escaped serious injury Thursday Morning when a car crashed into the Hot Spot gas station on East Main Street at Cope Creek Road in Sylva. The driver of the car suffered a “medical emergency”, and lost control of his car which struck the corner of the convenience store and caused major damage to the ladies’ restroom. A person in the restroom was just leaving the facility, or else critical injuries would have likely resulted. The damage is likely not going to be permanently repaired since the Hot Spot was scheduled to close on Thursday but has received a 30-day extension to clear the store to make room for the 107 road project.
