Traffic Stop Leads To Multiple Drug Charges
On January 23rd, 2024, deputies from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on a white Mercedes due to a observed traffic violation. During the stop, deputies observed peculiar behavior from both the driver and passengers, prompting them to seek assistance from the on-duty canine unit of the Sylva Police Department. The canine unit indicated a positive alert for the vehicle. Subsequent to a search, deputies discovered approximately 14 grams of suspected fentanyl.

– Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
– Misdemeanor Possession of Schedule II CS
Brian Thomas:
– Two counts of Felony Trafficking Opium or Heroin
– Felony Conspiracy Sell/Deliver Schedule II CS
– Felony Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell, or Deliver Schedule II CS
– Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
