At around 12:45pm, January 26, 2024, deputies from the Haywood County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to James Street in Clyde, NC, in response to a maintenance worker’s report of a suspicious situation. The worker had detected a foul odor and stumbled upon what appeared to be human remains in a Clyde duplex. Upon arrival, deputies and detectives, supported by Haywood County Emergency Services and the Canton Fire Department, secured the area. Following the issuance of a search warrant, human remains were confirmed, but the identity of the deceased remains unknown.
