The Swain County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in gathering information about a shooting incident reported at a local rafting company.
Deputies responded to the Paddle Inn Rafting Company on Highway 19 West in the Nantahala Gorge after receiving calls about gunshots around 5:52 p.m. on September 6. When a deputy arrived, no suspicious activity or the vehicle in question was found.
On September 9, investigators became aware of a video of the incident that had been posted on YouTube. Detectives have since reached out to the video’s owner and requested help from neighboring jurisdictions, along with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol Investigative Services Unit, to identify the vehicle involved.
