The future of a grant to fund public art in downtown Sylva is unclear, as Jackson County commissioners seek clarity on what kind of art will be displayed. Sylva is requesting a $5,000 grant to liven up downtown and establish an art walk featuring murals and kiosks, however, county commissioners have put the request on hold as they examine whether the public art is family-friendly. Both boards meet next week when the debate is expected to continue.
