Roadside Litter Clean-Up Scheduled For September
The N.C. Department of Transportation is in search of volunteers who can assist in the cleanup of roadside litter as part of the Fall Litter Sweep event.
The Litter Sweep constitutes one of NCDOT’s endeavors to eliminate litter from the sides of roads. They are urging residents across the state to engage in local endeavors aimed at tidying up North Carolina’s thoroughfares.
“North Carolina’s scenic splendor stretches from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the Outer Banks, and preserving its pristine litter-free allure demands a combined endeavor,” stated David Harris, the state’s environmental engineer for roadside matters. “Your involvement in the Fall Litter Sweep contributes to upholding a North Carolina that is both clean and environmentally conscious, something we can all take pride in.”
Throughout this two-week timeframe, NCDOT’s maintenance teams dedicate their time to removing litter from road edges and collecting bags of debris that have been filled by volunteers.
For those eager to contribute, reaching out to the local coordinator for litter management is all it takes to get started.
