More people are visiting Jackson County. In an announcement Thursday, officials said that 2021 tourist set financial records, with domestic and international visitors to and within Jackson County spending more than $437 million last year, an increase of $145 million from 2020, according to data from Visit North Carolina, a unit of the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina. The travel and tourism industry creates thousands of jobs in Jackson County, generating more than $110 million. Visitors spent more than $79 million per day in North Carolina, the study shows.
