GSMR will have a temporary route change
The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad will have a temporary route change later this month while the Nantahala Gorge tracks are being repaired, and that’s good news for local business owners. The GSMR will stop at Dillsboro every day for two hours from Aug. 14-28, and the route that goes through the Nantahala Gorge will be closed from Aug. 14-28 because of repairs to a section of the railroad. A train going to Dillsboro every day is replacing the Nantahala route during that time. It is expected that Dillsboro will have many visitors from the train during these consecutive 15 days. Visitors will also have more time to explore the shops downtown. The shop owners at Dillsboro says sales usually go up because more people visit at one time.
