Duke Energy will manage Bear Creek Lake for the remainder of 2023. The move is aimed at facilitating the scheduled maintenance activities around Cedar Cliff Dam safely. Heavy rainfall events may cause the lake level to rise but it will be drawn back down to resume construction. If drought conditions develop over the spring or summer, Duke Energy may not be able to maintain the adjusted target level, a press release states. This drawdown provides lake neighbors with an opportunity to perform shoreline stabilization, maintenance, or modify their docks or piers. Lake use permit applications must be submitted to Duke Energy for approval, and can now be completed online at duke-energy.com.
