Cullowhee Fire Chief Tim Green described the rapid spread of the fire, prompting a widespread response from all seven fire departments and support from agencies like the U.S. and N.C. forest services. Despite threats to nearby properties, diligent efforts prevented structural damage. Investigations into the fire’s cause were underway amidst challenging conditions, including strong winds leading to additional brush fires on Tuesday afternoon, all swiftly contained without structural damage.
