Sylva’s Social District Hours To Extend
Sylva’s downtown social district will now stay open an hour later each night. Town commissioners voted unanimously on Aug. 28 to extend hours to 10 p.m. The district will run 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday.
The change is designed to better align with the “Concerts on the Creek” series at Bridge Park, which typically wraps up around 9 p.m. The Main Street Sylva Association recommended the extension, noting the original hours—set when the district launched in 2022—were intentionally conservative.
Town officials say the social district has operated without major issues. According to previous reports from Sylva Police Chief Chris Hatton, the district has not led to an uptick in crime.
All other rules remain in place and are effective immediately: beer and wine must be in marked cups, consumed within the designated boundaries around Main Street and adjacent blocks, and disposed of before leaving the district.
