Sylva Holiday Fireworks Postponed

The scheduled holiday fireworks set for Friday, December 1st, by the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce have been postponed due to the persistent drought in the area.

Concerns about safety persist, prompting the leaders to delay the fireworks display until a later date next year, ensuring a safer environment for the event.

However, the holiday concert, tree lighting, and Christmas parade are currently unaffected by the postponement.

The holiday concert is still slated to take place at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, contingent upon weather conditions, as mentioned by Julie Donaldson, Executive Director of the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce. Donaldson mentioned in a news release, “We’re preparing for the concert on our chamber’s front porch, offering complimentary hot chocolate and various vendors. In the event of adverse weather, updates regarding the concert’s cancellation will be shared through press releases, social media platforms, and our website.”

During the hour-long concert from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., local favorites Terri Lynn Queen and Scott Baker will enchant the audience with renditions of beloved holiday classics. The tree lighting in Sylva is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday, December 1st, unless unsafe weather conditions intervene. Moreover, the Christmas parade remains scheduled for 3 p.m. on Sunday, December 3rd, regardless of rain or shine.
