Speeding Suspected in Tragic Death of Waynesville Teen
Reports from the highway patrol say that speed was likely a factor in a one car rollover crash at Lake Junaluska that claimed the life of a Tuscola teen. Police say, Alexis Sherill, 17, from Waynesville, apparently lost control of her vehicle on South Lakeshore Drive in the Sunday afternoon wreck February 12th, skidded off the road, down the hill, overturning several times and landing in the dry lakebed. The 17 year old, who police say was not wearing her seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. This was one of several accidents involving teens in the area in the last week, and police urge everyone to make sure their seat belted in. It could save your life.
