No Tax Increases Proposed in Sylva Budget
The Sylva Board of Commissioners are one step closer to accepting its budget for the 2022-23 fiscal year. However, the town is still awaiting a decision by the county regarding the Sylva Fire Department and its request for paid personnel. The budget is proposed without a tax increase. It includes funding an additional employee and vehicle in public works and two patrol cars for Sylva police. The most recent line item added to the budget is the $10,000 for a temporary skate ramp. A public hearing on the proposed budget will be held May 26, with commissioners looking to adopt it on June 9.
