Local UPS Workers Took To The Picket Lines
After months of negotiation, UPS workers appear no closer to striking a deal to keep them on the job. On Friday July 7th UPS drivers, including in Franklin took to the street with picket signs to demonstrate their willingness to go on strike if management does not reach an agreement. Friday’s demonstrations are all part of a national effort to let UPS management know they’re willing to strike if they have to. Last week, drivers demonstrated in Asheville. Workers are asking for better pay, improved working conditions, better healthcare and better retirement. Any strike would likely cripple the delivery giant, which delivers more than 24 million packages per day.
