Harris Regional Hospital and Swain Community Hospital Names 2022 Orchid Award Winner
Harris Regional Hospital and Swain Community Hospital recently announced Douglas Gates, MD, has been recognized as the facility’s 2022 Orchid Award winner. The Orchid Award was created by Harris Regional Hospital to award physicians for outstanding leadership and care. The Orchid Award is presented to a physician who consistently demonstrates transparency, responsiveness, accountability, compassion, engagement, and supportive teamwork.
The orchid is one of the most highly coveted of ornamental plants, it is delicate, exotic, and graceful. The orchid represents both love and strength in all manners of being. The Orchid Award embodies the love and strength demonstrated by physicians who leave behind the best part of themselves with their patients.
