Cherokee Indian Police Respond To 2022 Shooting Incident
The officers from the Cherokee Indian Police Department who have been accused of shooting an unarmed man in Murphy have issued a response to the lawsuit brought against them by the individual.
In their recent legal submission, the officers are asserting immunity and asserting that they perceived what appeared to be a weapon in Jason Kloepfer’s hand before they discharged their firearms, resulting in multiple gunshot wounds. The incident occurred in December 2022 when Kloepfer was shot by these officers at his residence in Cherokee County. Subsequently, he made public a video recording of the incident, captured by a camera within his home. The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) is presently conducting a thorough inquiry into the event.
