Taylor Swift keeps giving back. The pop star recently donated to Operation Breakthrough – a Kansas City charity that “provides a safe, loving and educational environment for children in poverty and empowers their families through advocacy, emergency aid and education,” according to its website.
“Thank you @taylorswift for supporting Operation Breakthrough. We are so grateful for your kindness and for championing creativity, education, and opportunity for our over 750 students!” the organization wrote on Instagram.
Swift became a dominant figure in Kansas City once she began dating her now-fiancé Travis Kelce. For his part, the Chiefs’ tight end works with Operation Breakthrough through his own foundation Eighty-Seven and Running to fund its Ignition Lab – a program that supports children ages 14 to 18 with a STEM education.
Operation Breakthrough hasn’t been Swift’s only charitable endeavor recently. She made a $1 million donation to the American Heart Association in honor of her father Scott Swift, who had heart surgery earlier this year.
“Taylor Swift’s remarkable generosity will create lasting change far beyond its financial value,” said Nancy Brown, CEO of the AHA. “Her family’s experience with cardiovascular disease is all too common, affecting nearly half of American adults. Her commitment to supporting her father will make so many others aware of the need to take their own heart health seriously, strengthen prevention efforts and improve controllable risk factors — ultimately helping more people live longer, healthier lives.”
She also donated the same seven-figure sum to Feeding America – which helps feed families facing food insecurity across the States. “We are incredibly grateful for Taylor Swift’s $1 million gift to Feeding America. This holiday season, her continued support is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when we unite to end hunger,” Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, the organization’s CEO, said. “When we join together alongside people facing hunger, we can make sure families have a full table this holiday season and beyond.”
