KISS Fans Start Campaign Seeking To Make Ace Frehley An Honorary Astronaut Following His Death
Following the death of KISS guitarist Ace Frehley on October 16 at age 74, fans have launched a Change.org petition urging NASA to posthumously make the legendary musician an honorary astronaut. Known for his iconic “Spaceman” persona and nickname “Space Ace,” the petition highlights that while Frehley embodied the space-themed character on stage, he never became an astronaut in real life, a dream the campaign seeks to fulfill as a tribute to his legacy. “When he suddenly passed away from a brain bleed following a head injury at 74, he was still only merely PLAYING the character of a Space Cadet. He NEVER got to be one for REAL,” the petition reads, while adding, “In honor of his memory, NASA should posthumously make Ace Frehley an honorary astronaut with the rank of ‘Captain’, because a celestial being of his caliber doesn’t deserve anything less of a send-off than this.” The petition, started by a fan named Kathryn, has received over 1100 signatures thus far.
