Twenty One Pilots’ ‘Breach’ Debuts At No. 1 Billboard 200 Following Biggest Week For A Rock Album In Six Years

Twenty One Pilots’ Breach debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, with the duo claiming the year’s biggest week for any rock album, and the largest sales week for a rock record in six years. Breach becomes the second chart-topper of the Columbus group’s career – following the No. 1 premiere of Blurryface in June 2015 –  launching with 200,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S., including 169,000 in traditional album sales. That marks Twenty One Pilots’ best week ever, and the biggest week for a rock album since Tool’s Fear Inoculum bowed at No. 1 with 270,000 equivalent units in September 2019. Breach’s opening-week sales were fueled by the availability of over 15 vinyl variants, which sold a combined 72,000 units, marking the largest vinyl sales week for a rock album in the modern era.

Also of note in this week’s Top 10, Ed Sheeran scores his eighth career Top 10 album as Play debuts at No. 5. The rest of the Billboard 200 Top 10 includes the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack falling to No. 2 after reaching No. 1 for the first time last week, while Morgan Wallen’s I’m the Problem remains at No. 3, Sabrina Carpenter’s Man’s Best Friend drops two spots to No. 4, Justin Bieber’s SWAG falls two slots to No. 6, Alex Warren’s You’ll Be Alright, Kid slides down two places to No. 7, SZA’s SOS descends two spots to No. 8, Wallen’s One Thing at a Time falls two slots to No. 9, and sombr’s I Barely Know Her holds at No. 10.
