Wildfire Updates: Progress in Containment Efforts
Swain County Emergency Management reports no changes in the Alarka Five Fire, which remains at 1,515 acres and is 62% contained. No evacuation orders are in place, with 89 personnel working on the fire.
The Rattlesnake Branch Fire holds at 1,865 acres with 24% containment. Burning on private land and the Shining Rock Wilderness Area in Pisgah National Forest near Cruso, nearly 160 personnel are engaged in firefighting efforts. Crews are focusing on building direct containment lines as conditions dry.
The Table Rock Complex has burned a total of 15,365 acres and is 32% contained. The Table Rock Fire covers 13,287 acres at 30% containment, while the Persimmon Ridge Fire is at 2,078 acres with 74% containment.
Rain on Monday helped boost containment of the Black Cove Complex. By Tuesday evening, the Black Cove Fire reached 93% containment at 3,502 acres, and the Deep Woods Fire improved to 60% containment at 3,969 acres. The Fish Hook Fire is fully contained at 199 acres. No evacuations are currently mandated for any of these fires.
