Steve White To Be Inducted in CSC Hall of Fame

Steve White

A long-time communications leader at Western Carolina University is getting a national honor.

College Sports Communicators says Steve White — a Western Carolina Athletics Hall of Fame member and a familiar name around Catamount Athletics for more than 50 years — will be inducted into the CSC Hall of Fame.

White is part of a six-person Hall of Fame class that will be recognized during the CSC annual convention, June 7th through the 10th, at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. The induction ceremony is scheduled for Monday, June 8th.

CSC says White’s career included serving as Western Carolina’s sports information director for 28 years, from 1970 to 1998. He also held roles including associate athletic director and executive director of the Big Cat Club — now known as the Catamount Club — and helped create and manage the Catamount Sports Network, later serving as a radio announcer through 2014.

Among his other recognitions, White has received multiple service awards, and CSC notes he attended 499 consecutive Catamount football games over more than four decades. CSC says the Hall of Fame plaques are permanently displayed at the NCAA Hall of Champions in Indianapolis.
