Spend 67 Minutes Outside Each Day
If your notion of “quality time outdoors” involves a mere 100-foot stroll to a Starbucks rather than embracing the elements, there might be a reason you don’t feel rejuvenated on a daily basis.
A recent poll suggests that the average American requires approximately 67 minutes of outdoor exposure each day to experience a sense of renewal. To put it into perspective, that’s akin to walking four miles to a Starbucks.
While achieving this goal may seem feasible during milder seasons, such as the transition to warmer weather, it becomes considerably challenging during the extremes, like the harsh winters in the Midwest or scorching summers in Arizona.
The criteria for “feeling refreshed” vary, but roughly two-thirds of individuals cite outdoor experiences as a source of relaxation, mood enhancement, and mental clarity.
Conversely, excessive indoor confinement can exacerbate feelings of depression, anxiety, and loneliness.
