For the second straight year, the Robert P. Holding Foundation has made a significant investment in Southwestern Community College’s students.
The new $20,000 gift will be added to the First Citizens Bank Endowed Scholarship Fund that was established last year through the SCC Foundation.
The fund now has more than $50,000, which will be used to support SCC students for generations to come. The Robert P. Holding Foundation is named for the man who is considered instrumental in the founding and development of First Citizens Bank, which was established in 1898.
“First Citizens is a local community bank, and the Holding family truly understands that the lifeline of a thriving community is a community college,” said Darren Morton, an Institutional Consultant for First Citizens Bank Institutional Wealth in Charlotte. “For me personally, I travel here three or four times a year, and I can tell when somebody has attended Southwestern because they’ve been taught the right way – just by their manners and their professionalism. That’s why we feel good about supporting Southwestern.”
The First Citizens Bank Endowed Scholarship is available to any student attending SCC.
