One Dead in Macon Fire
One person is dead following an early-morning structure fire in Macon County.
County officials say Cullasaja Fire and Rescue was called to a reported fire at a multi-family home along Evans Road at 5:13 Sunday morning, January 11th.
After crews arrived and worked the scene, officials say one person was found dead inside the home.
The Macon County Medical Examiner is working to identify the victim.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Macon County’s Fire Marshal’s Office, the Macon County Sheriff’s Office, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and the North Carolina Office of the State Fire Marshal are all involved in the investigation.
