Interim Sylva Town Manager Is No Stranger
The Sylva Town Board has unanimously voted to allow Mike Morgan to take over the town manager duties while Paige Dowling is out on maternity leave. In 2010, Morgan retired as the town manager in Weaverville after serving 18 years there. Since then, Morgan has spent time as am adjunct faculty member at WCU’s Masters of Public Administration program. Smoky Mountain News reports one of his students was actually Paige Dowling, who graduated from the program in 2012. Morgan also spent time in Waynesville after the former town manager there was fired and they searched for a new leader. Morgan will be paid just over 32-thousand dollars for the 6-8 weeks Dowling is expected to be out on maternity leave.
