Gov. Stein Declares State of Emergency Ahead of Wintry Forecast

Governor Josh Stein Declared A State Of Emergency For North Carolina On Tuesday In Preparation For The Upcoming Winter Weather. He Also Announced The Activation Of The State’s Emergency Management, Department Of Transportation, Public Safety, Highway Patrol, National Guard, And Other Utility Services.

According To A Release From Stein’s Office, More Than 180 North Carolina National Guard Members Have Been Deployed, And Over 1,500 Nc-D.O.T Employees Have Been Working To Pre-Treat Roads Statewide. As Of Tuesday Morning, NC DOT Has Already Applied 1.8 Million Gallons Of Brine In Anticipation Of Hazardous Conditions.

Stein And Other State Officials Are Urging Residents To Avoid Travel When Possible. Snow Accumulation Is Expected Wednesday Morning, With Scattered Snow Showers, Sleet, And Rain Possible Throughout The Afternoon And Evening.

A Winter Weather Advisory Remains In Effect For All Mountain Areas.
