Knox Witherspoon led the Brevard Blue Devils to the 2-A State Cross Country Championship on Saturday. Witherspoon’s time was 16:17.1 beating the second place runner by seven seconds. Townsend Dierauf of Brevard finished seventh and Abdi Greene also of Brevard was 12th. Brevard’s team score of 51 was the best in the competition. Lincoln Charter was second with a score of 67 followed by Owen at 98.
In Girls Action Lucy Murray of Brevard won the Girl’s State Championship in 2-A with a time of 19:26.5 but the North Carolina School of Science and math won the state title with a score of 36. Brevard was fourth overall with a score of 108
