Bomb Threat at Walmart: Scene Cleared, No Threat Found
A Walmart in Waynesville was evacuated Tuesday afternoon following a bomb threat, prompting a swift response from law enforcement and emergency services.
Authorities received the threat at Walmart, located at 135 Town Center Loop, leading to immediate evacuations while police worked to secure the scene. The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office assisted with a K-9 unit specializing in explosive detection.
At 5:05 p.m., officials confirmed that the store had been thoroughly searched and no threat was found. Walmart has since reopened to the public.
“We appreciate the public’s patience and the assistance of all law enforcement and emergency services personnel,” officials said in a statement, extending a special thanks to the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office.
