Western North Carolina overlooked in state coaches all star baseball selections

The North Carolina Baseball Coaches Association has named their 2013 All State Baseball teams. The Coaches Association selects a State All Star Team for each Division, the Smoky Mountain High School Mustangs play in the 2 A Division.  No players from western North Carolina were selected for the All-State Baseball team even though the Mustangs had one of the best record in the state this year and lost to the eventual state champion Piedmont High School.  Three players from the Panthers team were recognized with all state honors as were three players from state runner-up team. Making the list for Piedmont were Cameron Price, Cory Sykes, and Colby Barnette. No player west of Bandy’s High School located new Conover made the team.  This is especially annoying to the Mustangs who’s ace pitcher set a school record in wins and finished the year either tied or one win ahead for the most wins this year in the state in the Two A division.  In the Three A Division Cameron Crips from West Henderson was selected and in the One A Division Zack Wall was names to the All State team
