While the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Indians are celebrating the 100th edition of the Cherokee Fall Festival, a special enhancement will be the display of the Viet Nam War Traveling Memorial Wall. This display is being made possible by both the Eastern Band Tribal Government as well as Steve Youngdeer American Legion Post 143. The wall will arrive on October 2nd and will be a key part of the Fall Festival Parade at 4:30 through downtown Cherokee. The wall will be met in Franklin by a Cherokee Police Department escort and members of the Patriot Guard riders. Other riders who want to be part of the escort are to meet at the Macon County Fairgrounds by 2:00 p.m. Also those wanting to ride in the parade in Cherokee are to be at the parking lot at the Harrah’s Casino Casino by 2:30 to get in position for the parade. The wall will remain on display until noon October 8th.
