Former NASCAR driver ROBBY GORDON just had a family tragedy. His father Bob and his stepmother Sharon were found dead in their home on Wednesday night. Bob was 69, and Sharon was 57.
Bob had missed a doctor’s appointment, so a friend went to check on him, and he found both of the bodies. It turned out to be a murder-suicide.
Bob reportedly strangled Sharon and then committed suicide by shooting himself. There’s no word on a motive.
Before the cause of death was revealed publicly, Robby gave a statement to the media where he was fighting back tears. He said he wanted everyone to know what a good man his father was.
But he also knew what happened, and he said, quote, “the truth will come out.” Robby grew up on the property where the incident happened, and said he and the rest of the family were completely devastated. (Here’s video.)
Dale Earnhardt Jr. Tweeted that he was praying for the family. And NASCAR star Jimmie Johnson said, quote, “Heartbreaking news this morning. Thinking of the Gordon family and friends.”
