SCC & Jackson County Schools Renew Commitment to Early College

Jackson County Public Schools, along with Southwestern Community College have renewed their commitment to early college education for local high school students. Recently SCC president Don Thomas and Jackson County Schools Superintendent Michael Murray have renewed their mutual commitment to Jackson County Early College by co-signing a memorandum of understanding that will continue their organizations level of cooperation that they have had ever since the program was established 008. The early college program allows Jackson County Students to earn up to two years of college credit tuition free while they work towards their high school diploma in a college atmosphere. Early College students can choose to enroll in the program for 4 or 5 years depending on their academic goals. Upon the renewal of his commitment to the program, superintendent Murray had this to say; “Jackson County Public Schools is honored to work collaboratively with SCC to create this wonderful opportunity for our students. Our partnership continues to benefit both institutions and to allow our students to gain the skills needed to compete in the twenty-first century global environment.” For more information about early college programs for high school students you can contact Southwestern Community College at 399-4610 or visit their website at southwesterncc.edu.
