In an update to a story reported several weeks ago by WRGC staff, on May 13th 2013 a special session of the Macon County Grand Jury was held. During this session, investigators of the MCSO and State Bureau of Investigation provided testimony against defendant Christopher Lee Burk.
At the Conclusion, 56 of 56 True Bills of Indictments were handed down by the Grand Jury. Deputies have now served Burk with all the indictments at the Macon County Detention Center where he was currently being housed on the original 11 charges related to crimes against children.
Burk’s previous bond of $500,000 has been increased to $1.5 million dollars and he presently remains incarcerated. The charges Burke was found guilty of ranged from 1st Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor to Attempted Incest of a Child under 13. Sheriff Holland states, “My officers continue to do a tremendous job and while these are difficult cases for even the most seasoned officers, I have confidence that they will be thorough and remain professional as they seek justice on behalf of not only the youngest citizens of our community but especially those involved in this case. We fully intend to seek additional charges against Mr. Burk in the coming weeks as detectives continue to sift through the evidence they have collected”.
