On June 5th, 2019 Swain County Deputies responded to a 911 call with an open line in the area of 255 Sherrill Road in Bryson City. Prior to deputies arriving on the scene Swain County 911 communicators was able to hear what sounded like a drug transaction occurring on the open line. Communicators advised the responding deputies. Deputies then secured the scene and investigators obtained a search warrant for the residence. After searching the residence investigators charged Jeffery Vernon Watson, 54 years old with possession with intent to sell or deliver methamphetamine, maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of controlled substance, 2 counts of possession of controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Watson was given a $10,000 secured bond.
On June 3rd, 2019 investigators from the Swain County Sheriff’s Office, Cherokee Indian Police Department, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, BIA, and DEA conducted a search warrant at 1900 Old Bryson City Road in Whittier. As the result of that search investigators charged Terrell Michael Rogers, 31 years old with Possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Rogers was given a $30,000 secured bond.
Also on June 3rd, 2019 Deputies conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on highway 19/74 near Alarka Road. During the traffic stop the driver 51 year old Brian Lee Williams of Candler threw approximately one pound of marijuana out of the vehicle. Williams was charged by the Swain County Sheriff’s Office with possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana and felony possession of marijuana. The North Carolina Highway Patrol charged driving while impaired and several other traffic violations. Williams was given a $10,000 secured bond.”
