Spotify has removed R. KELLY’s music from all its playlists, including the popular RapCavier. It’s part of a new policy against “hate content” and “hateful conduct”.
His music is still on Spotify, they’ve just chosen not to actively promote it. They said, quote, “We don’t censor content because of an artist’s or creator’s behavior, but we want our editorial decisions to reflect our values.
“When an artist or creator does something that is especially harmful or hateful, it may affect the ways we work with or support that artist or creator.”
They’re doing the same thing to XXXTENTACION.
Kelly issued a statement saying Spotify is basing its decision on, quote, “false and unproven allegations.”
He also pointed out that Spotify, quote, “promotes numerous other artists who are convicted felons, others who have been arrested on charges of domestic violence and artists who sing lyrics that are violent and anti-women in nature.”
He added that his music is about, quote, “love and desire.”
