Smoky Mountain Medical Innovative Readiness Training Offers Free Healthcare to Mountain Residents

The U.S. Department of Defense in partnership with Swain County Health Department and Clay County Health Department present the Smoky Mountain Medical Innovative Readiness Training.  This clinic will provide medical, dental and optical care to residents ages 2 and up at no cost.  The Smoky Mountain Medical Mission will be held on August 2nd – 10th at Swain County High School and Hayesville High School.  Registration will start at 8 am and will be first come, first served.  Please prepare for potentially lengthy wait times.  There will be a cut off for each service.  We advise that you come early to registration.

 

Veterinary services will be offered August 8th-10th in Swain County at Swain County Recreation (Upper Fields).  This will be for small animals and will include vaccinations and deworming only.  Please bring a collapsible chair and water.  Wait times may be lengthy.

 

In 2014, Swain County Health Department hosted a similar IRT Mission in conjunction with Murphy Medical Center.  During this mission over 8,000 individuals  and 2,600 animals were served .
