The top seeded playoff team in all of western North Carolina is the Hiwassee Dam girls softball team. This same crop of student athletes had a strong showing in the state basketball playoffs and continue to dominate in softball. In the Single A Division undefeated and number one seeded Hiwassee Dam team will host number 32 seed Union Academy. Number 25 seeded Andrews will be traveling to number 8 seeded Avery Count and number 24 seeded Swain County will be on the road at East Surry. The neighborhood game will find number 21 Hayesville traveling to number 12 Robbinsville. Also in the Smoky Mountain Conference number 14 Rosman will host number 19 Walkertown.
In the Double A Division three teams from the more local western area earned playoff seeding. Number 8 Brevard will host number 24 seeded Newton Conover. Number 29 seeded Franklin will be traveling to number 4 seeded West Lincoln. Number 26 seeded Smoky Mountain will be on the road to East Davidson.
In the Three An Division the fifth seeded team and top seeded in the far west is Enka who will host the 28th seeded Forestview. On their heels is sixth seeded Pisgah will who will welcome 27th seeded Freedom. Twelfth seeded A.C. Reynolds will take on the 21st seeded Central Cabarrus team. Tuscola just made the cut to be a home team ranked at 15th at 13 and 7 on the season and will host 16 and 6 Marvin Ridge seeded 18th. Also in the conference 31st seeded West Henderson will travel to number 2 seeded Hibriten.
