Four boys basketball teams from The Smoky Mountain Conference saw their basketball season come to an end on Thursday night. The Swain High School Maroon Devils were at home but could not stop a tough squad from Albemarle and suffered the season ending 58 to 50 point loss. West Montgomery escaped Cherokee with a 68 to 67 point victory, Avery County shut down Hayesville 64 to 54, and Winston Salem Prep rolled over Rosman 95 to 55.
PROGRESSING TO THE NEXT ROUND: North Henderson won over Erwin 73 to 69, and Owen defeater West Caldwell 60 to 52.
In GIRLS ACTION:
Franklin lost to Monroe 68 to 48, Erwin lost to Central Cabarrus 66 to 61, Mitchel lost to Cherokee 50 to 48, Grey Stone Day ended the Robbinsville Black Knights season 49 to 44, Kings Mountain knocked off North Henderson 63 to 44, Dudley (Greensboro) won over TC Roberson 55 to 38.
