Last spring, Southwestern Community College welcomed a record turnout of employers and job-seekers to its annual Job Fair.
Later this month, college officials expect to set a new standard.
More than 100 area employers are expected for this year’s Job Fair, which is scheduled for 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 22, in Burrell Conference Center on Southwestern’s Jackson Campus.
“This is a great opportunity, not only for our students and area employers, but also for anyone in the community who’s looking for a new career opportunity,” said Michael Despeaux, director of SCC’s Career Services. “When you have this many qualified applicants and quality employers in the same room at the same time, you’re going to make some life-changing connections.”
The event is free and open to the general public as well as SCC students and alumni.
Despeaux encourages all job-seekers to dress professionally and bring copies of their resume.
The Job Fair is part of “PEAK Week,” which also features a “Professional Etiquette” seminar and opportunities for SCC students and members of the community to get tips on their resumes and learn more about the other career services available at Southwestern.
