In honor of Safe Kids Day, Safe Kids Jackson County has partnered with Andy Shaw Ford to host a fun and free family event on April 26th from 2:30 to 6:30 PM at Andy Shaw Ford (1231 E Main Street) in Sylva. The purpose of the event is to celebrate kids, help families learn more about how to prevent injuries, and take steps to make their kids safer. Children and parents will participate in fun games and activities while learning how to stay safe on the road, in the home, and at play. There will be free car seat checks on site and face painting by Macon Face Painting. Special visitors include Sparky the Fire Dog and the Smoky Mountain High School cheerleaders. Free food will be served. Safe Kids Jackson County works to reduce accidental death and injury to children ages 0 to 19 years through prevention, education, and intervention. Around the world, a million children die each year from these preventable injuries. Millions more are injured in ways that can affect them for a lifetime. In fact, preventable injuries are the number one cause of death for children in the United States. For more information about Safe Kids Jackson County or about Safe Kids Day, call 828-587-8225.
