Road Rage Incident Leaves Man Shot

On June 26th, deputies with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into a road rage incident where a victim reported being shot in the lower leg while traveling on NC 107 in the East La Porte Community.  The primary victim, Martin Adams, 44 of Cullowhee, stated he was a passenger in a vehicle traveling North on NC 107 with Bryan Lozano, 22, of Cullowhee.  Both victims indicate their vehicle had been traveling down NC 107 from Cashiers and had been followed very closely by a white or light colored Ford Ranger or Chevrolet S-10 style pickup.  The victims stated they were passed across the double yellow lines near Caney Fork Road.  Lozano stated he in turn passed the vehicle himself near the south end of Old Cullowhee Road.  After Lozano passed the truck, Adams, who was the right front passenger, found himself to be shot through the lower leg.  The two victims then drove to Harris Regional Hospital.  Adams was transported onto Mission Hospital with non-life threating injuries.  The victims state the truck had a white or light colored cooler in the back and the driver was a white male with salt and pepper colored hair.  Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office are still seeking any information to assist with this investigation.  Please contact Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Crime Stoppers at 828-631-1125.
