DURHAM - Jazz lovers in the Triangle will have plenty to do near their home this weekend as Durham kicks off its second Art of Cool jazz festival. And this year, festival president Cicely Mitchell says Art of Cool is bringing in some very big headliners in underground jazz.
CARY - All day this Saturday, Bond Park will be filled with arts and crafts for Cary's Spring Daze. Lyman Collins, Cary's cultural arts manager, says artists of all kinds from around North Carolina will be gathered, with extra events for those looking for different kinds of entertainment.
RALEIGH - Ten new communities have joined the Watch for Me NC program to promote bicycle and pedestrian safety. Lauren Blackburn, director of the bicycle and pedestrian division in the state Department of Transportation, says part of the partnership means organizing to effectively spread information.
RALEIGH - One of Raleigh's organizations to bring children and animals with similar backgrounds together is moving. Hope Reins gives kids free 90 minute sessions with horses, which founder Kim Tschirret says is therapeutic for the types of children who come in.
RALEIGH - Gov. Pat McCrory is up for reelection in 2016 and while he hasn't announced his candidacy, North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper appears to be a favored candidate for state Democrats. Tom Jensen, director of Public Policy Polling, says when asked who state voters prefer, it's a close race.
