UPDATE: Knox County Regional Forensic Center has confirmed through dental records the body discovered near missing Jackson County woman’s vehicle is in fact the remains of Eunice Gass. Investigators do not suspect foul play in this case.
According to Sheriff Chip Hall of Jackson County, the Monroe County TN Sheriff’s Office has located remains near the vehicle belonging to Eunice Gass. Those remains have been sent to the Knox County Medical Center for examination for positive identification. Monroe County Sheriff’s Office will make further releases when further information is available.
The vehicle, driven by Gass, was located during the late evening on October 22, 2016 by two ATV riders in the Cherokee National Forest near the Cherokee County, NC and Monroe County, TN border. Ms. Gass has been missing since late August and search efforts have continued since then.
