Plans For An Unusual Semester

Classes are scheduled to resume at Western North Carolina’s college’s and universities within the next three weeks. Most institutions are combining remote learning with in-person instruction. It’ll be far from normal as the new semester begins by the end of this month. College life will likely not have much of the social interaction that many young college students crave. Western Carolina University has canceled its fall break so students won’t be leaving campus and returning. Classes will end at Thanksgiving. Southwestern Community College will also not have a fall break, but there will be a “flex and finals week” of remote learning, with the last day of classes scheduled for December 4th. Haywood Community College IS offering a fall break in October and students will return to the campus after Thanksgiving, with the last day of school scheduled for December 15th.
