Pisgah Too Much For Mustangs

The baseball story from Tuesday’s game between Smoky Mountain and Pisgah High School is Black Bears pitcher Mason Herbert who entered the game with a 2.21 earned run average in 19 innings pitched. The Mustangs were able to collect only six hits off the Mustangs including their only two hit inning in the sixth which enabled the Mustangs to plate their only run.  Herbert finished the day with 9 strikeouts, one base on balls, one hit batter, and six hits. The Mustangs Cole Hooper took the Mustangs into the seventh but Pisgah had built a 4 to one lead  at the time. Andrews Thomas came in to close the game and threw ONE pitch which turned into an inning ending double play. Hooper had six strikeouts one walk, four runs, and surrendered eight hits. Pisgah improved to 7 and 3 overall and 4 and 2 in conference play. The Mustangs fell to 3 and 4 and 3 and 3 in conference play. The Mustangs go out of the conference on Friday to face A.C. Reynolds. The weather prediction is for rain on Friday so sty tuned for a schedule change.  WRGC is NOT scheduled to broadcast the Friday game but will instead be broadcasting the Atlanta Braves game with the Yankees at the new Sun Trust Park as they end the spring training schedule.

The Lady Mustangs were shut out by Pisgah 12 to 0 in Sylva on Tuesday.
