Mustangs Unload On Tuscola

Mustang Pitcher Cole Hooper limited the Tuscola Mountaineers to only two hits by Nick Worrell on Friday afternoon, while striking out eight, so only two batters above the minimum in five innings for Tuscola who were unable to score against the Mustangs defense.  The Mustangs threaten in the first with singles by Matthew Ridley and Cole Hooper an a walk issued to Zebby Matthews, but Worrell rallied and struck out three Mustangs to retire the side and leave the based loaded. In the second the Mustangs lite up the scoreboard with two runs then exploded in the third with seven runs on four hits. In the top of the fourth Matthew Ridley doubled and Zebby Matthews was hit by a pitch to set the stage for the Mustangs to capitalize. Coach Tatum made his third pitching change bringing in Travis Nelson. Hooper grounded out for the second out but no trouble for Trevor Lewis who went long ball for three runs. Tuscola was three up an down in the top of the fifth.  Hooper gave way to Andrew Thomas who induced two ground ball outs to complete the game with the Mustangs enjoying the 12 to 0 win and going 6 and 5 on the season and now 5 and 3 in conference play.  The Mustangs will play a couple of Henderson County teams next week which will not be aired on WRGC Radio.

The Mustang girls were shut out 11 to 0 and the JV boys fell to Tuscola as well.
